New York City has Time Square, Los Angeles has Hollywood, and Miami has Wynwood! The new up-and-coming area offers a wide array of activities and art. Wynwood is decorated with colorful murals adorning the sides of buildings and street signs. The cheap eats, trendy stores, and walkability of the neighborhood make it the perfect place for teens.
In the past few years, Wynwood has quickly become one of the most popular areas in Miami-Dade County. But what makes it so popular? Wynwood’s biggest feature is its art. Tons of artists have created beautiful murals all over the neighborhood. A relatively new edition is the mural welcoming Lionel Messi, the global soccer star who has recently joined Inter Miami.
The art in Wynwood creates a great ambiance for photos, which is evident with the countless spots with people posing for their Instagram accounts. One of the best places to do this is Wynwood Walls. The art exhibit deems itself “Miami’s Original Street Art Museum” and has beautiful murals, and they encourage visitors to take pictures with them. Another great photo spot is Wynwood Jungle, a hidden little spot that displays paintings of animals on its walls. The most well-known spot in the Jungle is its iconic stairs featuring a snake along the steps.
There are always fun events happening around Wynwood. On November 16th Wynwood Marketplace will be holding a free Watch Party for the World Cup Qualifiers - Colombia vs. Brazil. It’s a party you don’t want to miss. A great thing to do that’s only available on the weekends from 1-9 p.m. is Smorgasburg Miami, which is Miami’s largest outdoor food market. Food trucks, vendors, and music await.
